The future of the tropical forest of Guyana
and its inhabitants (people Wayona, Wayampi and Teko) is
seriously threatened. Indeed, the project of opening of a
national park in the south of Guyana calls into question the
prefectoral decree of the 14/09/1970 which limits the access to
the indians country to the only people provided with a
prefectoral authorization. The creation of this park would
generate tourism of dangerous mass for the ecosystem and the
ways of life of the local populations, sacrificed in the name
of the "development" and already victims of gold
washing. The gold diggers, with the contempt of any law,
destroy the means of subsistence of the populations
amérindiennes by pollution with mercury and thus put
their physical health and morals in danger.
